Tuesday 4th July

Dewsbury to Huddersfield

Late start due to a late night. We started by filling up with diesel, which is only 50p/l and will almost certainly be more expensive further on.

Stopped for an early lunch at Mirfield in the Navigation Tavern. This is in the Good Beer Guide and their restaurant did us a very good sandwich, at a price.

After that we carried on up to Cooper Bridge where we turned on to the Huddersfield Broad canal, and into Huddersfield. Moored opposite Sainsburys. Went into town to the Albert Hotel. They had stopped doing food as they had a function on, so after a pint there we went to Wetherspoons to eat. After that we went to the Station Tavern and then to the Rat and Ratchet. This in an Ossett bresery pub with 6 of their beers.

On the way back we manged to get onto the towpath west of Bates tunnel. We found some notices on lock 1 about a water shortage and made a note of a number to ring.
