Slaithwaite to Huddersfield
Got up at 8 ready for an 8.30 start, but we were beaten to it by the boat moored behind us. As there were only two of them we were on their tail all the way. Then they got something round their prop and noticed a problem with their engine, so we overtook them at lock 12.
Had the same trouble as on the way up in the pound between locks 7 and 8, we got stuck just outside the lock and had to let some water down.
In Huddersfield we went to the Albert Hotel for a late lunch, then on to The Head of Steam to see Ian off. Sure enough the beer in there is not as good as in the Station Tavern, but it is more inviting.
Retired to the boat for a while then out again for some more to eat in Wetherspoons. Finally we went to The Rat and Ratchet.
