Friday 7th July

Marsden to Standedge Tunnel End and back.

Got up early to go and see if there was room for us to go through the tunnel as passengers. As one of the boats had two dogs, they had to take them another way, so there was room for us. We started through at about 9.20 and it took 3 hours. Was quite glad that we hadn't been able to take Jacob through last year due to the worry about damage.

Uncle Eric and Pat met us at Diggle and we went to the Diggle Hotel for lunch, I had wild Boar steak. Then they took us back to Marsden. In order to turn Jacob round we went up to the visitor centre to wind and then backed into the tunnel end wharf to empty the toilet. While I was doing that Ben got out the width guage and agreed that Jacob was officially too wide.

Moored back at Marsden.

Went to eat aagin at the Tunnel End Inn, then back to the boat to await Dais arrival by train.

Went back to the Tunnel End Inn while it was still light then into town to go to the Riverhead Brewery Tap.

Had a look in Oliver Street at the building used for Aunty Wainwrights shop in Last of the Summer Wine. It obviously used to be a shop, but being in the back streets it hasn't survived as such.
